WordCamp Miami is nearly sold out with an estimated 700 WordPress fans to be in attendance. The event is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year and the organization team has announced its first WordPress beginner’s workshop for kids.
Tammie Lister and I will be leading the workshop, which will introduce kids and their parents to publishing with WordPress. We’ll walk them through the process of setting up and customizing a blog on WordPress.com. This will be a fun, interactive session where everyone will be encouraged to participate and ask questions.
Although the session is geared toward kids aged 8-12, it will be open to any age. Children under 18 can attend for free with a parent who has a ticket to WordCamp Miami. The workshop will be held Sunday morning, May 11th, which also coincides with Mother’s Day.
The last remaining tickets to WordCamp Miami are selling fast. If you have kids, your ticket includes this family-oriented WordPress beginner’s workshop. Get in touch with WordCamp Miami organizers via email (miami@wordcamp.org) if you’d like to attend.
For those of you who have children in the 8-12 age range who use WordPress, we’d love to hear from you about topics that would be most beneficial. When it comes to publishing, what does the next generation of WordPress bloggers want to know?
Great idea! I hope it turns out just as good as it sounds!
