group.one Acquires BackWPup, Adminimize, and Search & Replace Plugins

group.one, a European cloud hosting and digital marketing services provider, has acquired the BackWPupAdminimize, and Search & Replace plugins from Inpsyde. Together the products have more than 1.1 million active installs and will join group.one’s growing portfolio of WordPress products, which include WP RocketImagify, and Rank Math SEO.

Inpsyde sold the plugins to focus more on its consulting and product services.

“This sale lets us concentrate on our core competencies and work more closely with our clients, like PayPal, Payoneer, and Mollie, providing the know-how to develop and reach their full potential with new avenues for advancement,” Inpsyde CEO Alex Frison said.

The acquired plugins will be managed by the development team at WP Media, one of group.one’s brands, expanding its offerings beyond optimization and SEO to include backup and site management capabilities.

“Backup and recovery solutions are crucial to protect websites against data loss and we look forward to further developing BackWPup, along with Adminimize and Search & Replace,” group.one CEO Daniel Hagemeier said. “Together with WordPress hosting from WP.one and one.com, and our flagship products WP Rocket, Imagify, and Rank Math SEO, WordPress users can now come to group.one to optimize, secure, maintain and promote their online presence.”

When asked what specific features are being prioritized on the immediate roadmap, group.one representative Simon Kraft said “the smooth transition over to WP Media” is their focus following the sale. He was unable to comment on whether the commercial versions of the acquired plugins would be subject to any pricing changes.

  1. Good for them on monetizing such a great product.

Now, if only WordPress(self-hosted) had a simple way of zipping all files with an include and exclude option and zipping the database for download or a local folder it would be perfect.

    A well rounded CMS.

    • That’s what backup plugins like #BackWPup are made for. I don’t see core offering something like this, as needs are very different. That’s why there are many different backup and migrating solutions out there.

    • You’d be surprised how non-simple it can be to zip up all files when the PHP process is running in an HTTP-request context (especially on cheap web hosting).

    • Why would you replace something that is still “good” and with the new owner become even more attention? It was and is still reliable. I was using it before it was “aquired” by Inpsyde (where I work at since last year) and I will continue using it, as it’s still the best plugin for my preferred type of backup strategy.

    • You might consider using WP Vivid and WP All-In-One Migration, as these two plugins are the most effective backup solutions in my experience.
