  1. Yeah I think spellcheckers and Google have ruined most people’s basic writing skills. I know that like Jeff, mine have gone downhill since I started using computers.

There are words I have always struggled to spell, but that list has grown in recent years. The line I try to draw is that even if I don’t know how to spell some words, I try to at least recognize when they are spelled wrong so that I can correct them with the magic of the Internet :)

I think my skills haven’t atrophied too terribly, but After the Deadline has me paranoid, I’m going to check it out and see just how much I suck these days!

According to the ATD blog, Raphael’s favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip:

  2. @JLeuze – They have a plugin available for IntenseDebate but not one for the default comment form. I guess it would be pretty cool if there was a button next to Preview on the comment form called Proofread which would submit the comment to AtD to be checked. I’ll ask Raffi or get him to comment here to see if this is already possible or if it’s in the pipeline.

  3. @JLeuze The URL for the IntenseDebate plugin is: http://tinyurl.com/yfny6a4 — I see ID as a good proving ground for features related to comments.

This feature is not in the pipeline for AtD/WP at this time. I think the logical next step would be a WordPress plugin that adds AtD to the WordPress comments form. I think this is feasible with the jQuery extension. If anyone wants to take a stab at developing this, let me know. I’m curious to see how it would do.

  4. My guess at the trivia question:

Going to have to agree with Josh. Favorite flavor of ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip.

  5. @Raphael Mudge -@Raphael Mudge – I’m sure some talented coder will scratch that itch!

I can see how AtD could improve the quality of comments on a blog. Could it flag comment like “great post” as a fragment and suggest they write at least one sentence? ;)

  6. @Kim – I forgot to share my favorite flavor of ice cream, vanilla. There’s nothing like a rootbeer float on a hot summer day!

Anyone else have a more exotic ice cream preference?

  7. I’m a fan of any ice cream that has brownie bits and chunks in it. Also don’t mind the occasional cookie dough ice cream as well. Every now and then, I get my fix by eating some Ben And Jerrys Cherry Jubilee.

  8. @Kim – I love french vanilla and new york style vanilla. Ooo, pumpkin, I forgot all about that. My wife made us some awesome homemade pumpkin ice cream last summer. :)

@Jeffro – Chunky Monkey is my favorite Ben & Jerry’s.

OK, now I need to take an afternoon snack break…

  9. @Raphael Mudge
I think some edits to AtD for bbPress could make it work with WordPress’s comments form too. The proofread button is inserted with jQuery above the textbox and the php file just needs to load the javascript and css file (and also has an admin settings page to ask the API key).

  10. @Jeffro – Revisiting this thread and noticed that the correct answer to the trivia question wasn’t given, nor have the points been updated yet. Maybe over the weekend you’ll have time to do that? :)
