    Justin, I’m glad you mentioned the high specificity in core styles; it’s been a pain point for me for a long time. I’ve found it easier to dequeue all core styles and rewrite them in my theme, rather than fight them.

    Thanks for the great writeup Justin.

    Also, thanks for pointing out the issue around selector chaining. On looking at it again it looks like one of the selectors you mentioned may in fact be redundant post the refactor, so have put up a PR to look at removing that – https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/34277.
