  • I suspect the Holiday Break was based at least partially on legal advice. The specific exclusion of WP Engine from the break is a clue for me. For me it goes something like this.

The injunction requires all wordpress.org services be returned to WP Engine. The break allows wordpress.org to clearly demonstrate they are complying with the injunction & providing the services to WP Engine, even when they are paused for everyone else.

I’m so pleased to see the progress made in the Plugins Review Team since the retirement of the previous leadership. It’s been a fantastic turn-around following years of little change.

The key changes I’ve seen are:
    – shared leadership
    – improved transparency
    – creation of suitable team documentation & training
    – development of tools to improve processes for both the Plugins Review team & plugin developers
    – increased focus on help & education of plugin developers.

I look forward to the planned improvements.

But WP Engine did not make Local – it was created by Flywheel who they acquired. But they have been maintaining & improving it since they acquired Flywheel.

I’ve switched recently to mostly using Studio.

Brian Coords has written in this post Custom Settings Screens in Block Themes about his preferred approach for setting up a WordPress multisite with a smooth onboarding/settings experience so that an in-house marketing team can spin up and customize new sites on the network quickly.

The larger issue of custom settings screens in Themes in general definitely also needs to be addressed.

Because Block themes are such a fundamental change in the way Themes are both built & used, we fortunately now have an opportunity for a complete re-think of the whole Theme space on WordPress.

I’m keen to see what now emerges.

I agree – the quality of journalism here on WPTavern has always been exceptionally good.

I would like everyone involved to know that your good is greatly appreciated.

Me too. I’m so glad we’re both still alive & well to experience it.

@jeffr0 – it’s so good to have your unique sense of humour back here.
