Lovely theme with a really great style for restaurants – it has a strong personality but still a clean, usable design. It’s also nice to see the Jetpack nova menu module in use as I haven’t seen much done with that.

Shameless plug: I also build restaurant themes on a stable set of free, well-reviewed plugins for restaurant menus, reservations, reviews and Schema-friendly contact details.

It’s nice to see the content features outsourced to a plugin. It wasn’t always like this, but I’d say that quite a few of the restaurant themes on ThemeForest are doing this now. A few are using my reservations plugin and I know Justin Scheetz has a custom-built plugin for menus he distributes with his theme.

      Hi Nate,

Great themes and plugins, thanks for sharing ;) I will introduce a support for some of your plugins in the Auberge theme’s update soon.

      Regards,

Nice theme. Sarah, I think you’re right that the food and beverage market is underserved with simple solutions that just work. This is a good response to that, and makes use of some great Jetpack features.

Great work, Oliver! This is a beautiful theme that I’ve been fortunate enough to have an eye of for the last few weeks. Couldn’t be happier to see it getting some love here on the Tavern.

Very nice theme and I was searching for something like this… It seems it’s my lucky day.

    Hello,

Sarah, thank you again for reviewing another one of my themes! I’m really glad to be featured on WP Tavern twice in ten days :)

Just to make some things clearer, there are 2 versions of the theme available. Free Auberge offered via WordPress.org doesn’t contain the recipes functionality (so does not require WebMan Amplifier plugin to be installed) and don’t support post formats. You can actually read the differences from Auberge Plus on dedicated info page.

While the theme does not contain any shortcodes and page builders, it does contain a simple slider which can be set up using Jetpack’s featured content module according to theme’s user manual instructions. And, the theme (even the free version) supports the great Beaver Builder page builder plugin!

    Thanks again for the review!

    Best regards,

    Oliver

Click “Menu” from the main navigation > then select any menu item > then select one of the subcatagories in the breadcrumbs at top (“First Courses” or “Main Courses” or”Desserts” depending on which item you clicked in the three categories), and the subsequent page appears broken (text hanging off the left side).

    Tests were done in IE/FF/Chrome

    http://themedemos.webmandesign.eu/auberge/menu/first-courses/
    http://themedemos.webmandesign.eu/auberge/menu/main-courses/
    http://themedemos.webmandesign.eu/auberge/menu/desserts/

    Great theme otherwise.

      Hi,

This is not actually an error of the theme but rather an unpleasant featiure of Jetpack Food Menu custom post. You can avoid this pages by proper setup of the breadcrumbs plugin which I will do. Plus I will try to come up with a solution for these Jetpack’s broken archive pages in upcoming theme update soon.

      Thanks for spotting it anyway!

      Regards,

      Oliver

One of the most intelligently conceived and executed restaurant themes ever. ATTRACTIVE TOO. Wow.
