    There’s also VIP Quickstart … https://github.com/Automattic/vip-quickstart

I had a lot of trouble getting that to work though and ended up using Varying Vagrant Vagrants in the end, which has worked very well for me.

Interesting post, i always used XAMPP as development environment but after read about VVV seems that it deserves a try.

Pressable also has one… although it could probably use some more testing. https://github.com/pressable/simulator

How can I start using VVV? What are the underlying requirements? Thanks for the post.

I’ve made a (slightly non-orthodox) Vagrant template for WordPress on HHVM, Nginx, and MariaDB: https://github.com/keichan34/wp-nginx-hhvm-mariadb

Just throwing another contender into the ring.

I released WP-Vagrant a couple of days ago – it’s a hopefully simple and reasonably powerful Vagant LEMP box with some WP specific features. Not nearly as well engineered as VVV but maybe a bit simpler to use.

    It’s available from http://www.wp-vagrant.com/ and https://github.com/digitalquery/wp-vagrant

I’ll add another, Laravel Homestead http://laravel.com/docs/4.2/homestead, it not specifically for WordPress but works very well for it. They also have a tool called Laravel Forge which mirrors the vagrant environment. Very well maintained and quite awesome.

I’ve got to say that https://github.com/genesis/wordpress looks very very promising, and I wasn’t aware that Laravel had an official version.
