Something great I noticed yesterday that seems to be part of this release: style elements are no longer being inserted between blocks in the editor DOM, making for much less convoluted CSS when styling it.

This is true for the duotone filter, which puts the hidden <svg> and <style> tag in the footer. This is a nice change. Blocks with layout settings like Group and those with link color settings still have <style> elements inserted. I hope those get the same treatment.

Hmm, I’m no longer having to deal with style elements related to layout settings between blocks in the editor itself (the front-end remains as before). I noticed this only because my editor styles were no longer being applied correctly and needed to be adjusted.

Drag and Drop for ListView was exactly what I was looking for. I was actually wondering why it wasn’t there already. This feature actually helps when working with long-form content.
I can’t wait to try it out. Hope it gets included in the core soon.

The Overlay terminology was initially a bit of a head scratcher to be sure.

The frontend navigation JS issue only seems to affect local sites on Windows.
My online Linux hosted demos are unaffected and work just as before.

Would love this. I spend so much time clicking in the list view thinking “Now which heading IS it though…”

These are all great additions to the block editor, thanks for pointing them out! But most importantly — What Christmas tree did you go with and where did you buy it? We’re in the market! :)

I actually went pretty cheap. After watching a lot of videos of people turning their cheap trees into works of art, I thought it would be a good challenge to put the work into really decorating and filling it out. I did opt for a partially-flocked design with pine cones added though.

It’s going to be my first real Christmas in what I hope is my forever home (I moved in a few weeks before Christmas last year and didn’t have time to do much). I’ve always wanted to really deck the halls of my own home, have a big family dinner, and get into a lot of the traditions that I’ve missed out on. So, I’m starting early this year with the prep work.

For text heavy pages, the List View is still mostly useless. It provides little to no benefit when all you see is dozens of lines that just say “Paragraph”. This of course, also makes the new Drag ‘n Drop feature unusable as well.
