Losing user progress in quiz-style interactive forms

Hi all,

I’m setting up a quiz platform, where users can play what is essentially an interactive learning game right on the site. The issue I’m running into is that when users navigate away from the page or refresh it accidentally, their progress is lost.

This is frustrating for engagement, especially since the quizzes are meant to be dynamic and track scores in real time. I’ve tried a few session-saving plugins, but the behavior is inconsistent across browsers and mobile devices.

Has anyone here dealt with wordpress-based quiz or interactive learning games and found a reliable way to preserve user state across page reloads? Any tips for improving the experience without relying on heavy custom development would be great!
