Wow, even after what we’ve already witnessed over the past few months, this demonstrates profoundly bad judgment on Matt’s part. Everyone who stayed at Automattic (other than those who financially had no choice) should be embarrassed.

Customers who have left WP-Engine haven’t necessarily stayed with WordPress so it’d be interesting to see how many people have dumped WordPress because of this sorry saga.

Just sit down, 4 eyes, talk, give each other something to save face, take a picture together and make peace.

Let it be lesson for both sides not to have maximalist demands next time.

Lesson learned, when the big boss tells you something, don’t ignore it and pretend you don’t see it. Everyone at wordpress.org already knows that lesson.
