mac2net Change management – it got the better of the NYSE a few weeks ago. I apologise if this is what’s already happening, but I suggest that any and all emergency security updates be accompanied by a blast to an email list to which anyone can subscribe and perhaps a tweet. This should be a mandatory part of the process. The update does NOT go out until the followup communication is ready. One more thing – when these things happen, Wordpress people should stop getting defensive or rationalising actions or positions. This only further inflames folks who have been unexpectedly stressed. Remember you knew what was happening but they didn’t. There is always time for post-mortem analysis later.
