jawittdesigns I agree with Dovy Paukstys. The customizer just doesn’t work for non style settings. I build themes mainly for companies. These companies have specific branding guidelines and giving the theme the ability to change the style isn’t an option. All of that is left in the stylesheets where it belongs, so no one can mess things up. With that said what’s the point of the customizer if you don’t allow styling from the admin? None that I can see. It seems like the core devs are taking the “It’s a Blog and Only a Blog” approach to their decision making. You know that 20% of site that WordPress powers aren’t all blogs. I doubt if most of them are, so what keep making decision like they are? I don’t see much use for the customizer in the themes I build and I feel like the customizer should actually be a separate plugin, instead of part of core. It’s just adding unnecessary bloat to an already bloated system.
