Terry, many folk around the world don’t have the (awful) experience of a nanny state like us Brits have. I totally agree. No to opt outs. Opt ins should be the rule. In other words, if you want to opt in, here you can do this, tick this box. After all, log in to any admin backend and all the red blobs are calls to action. If you can’t be bothered, why should I care? If someone gets hacked as a result, that’s their lookout.

I was recently asked to take a look at a ‘problem’ a non-customer had with their website. 27 updates outstanding, including a few that I new were security risks. I politely asked them to get their site up-to-date and then I might help. They refused to update anything. I warned them of the consequences. I got a call today from them. help, we’ve been hacked … nuff said.
