Ted Clayton Remember the “Post Formats UI in Core” feature of WordPress v_3.6? Remember the both palms flat on the table, firm eye-contact pronouncements, that “We will wait for the official account of what happened”? Of which, we never heard a peep or whisper? V_3.6.0 (RIP) tells us something that should stay foremost in mind. Leadership & developers at WordPress are standard-issue humans. They have advanced skills & special knowledge in specific contexts that exceed mine, and yours, in those particular contexts. I and you, on the other hand, have specific abilities in many other contexts that exceed those of personnel at WP-HQ, because those folks spend so (‘too’) much time & energy on their special context, permitting many of their standard-issue abilities to undergo a process of atrophy, occlusion, or delayed-development/expression. Look what’s happening at Google-HQ, right now. These are folks who became extremely successful within extremely constrained contexts, and now we find that as humans, core leadership there are still hung up in the dork-phase of life.
