The words “that code” in the quote in the article is intended to refer to those few lines that have been identified as problematic. It doesn’t mean the minification module in general, which has been subject to continuous improvement, bug-fixing, etc. (The quote if read out of context makes it sounds like the minification module is more or less a copy – but it has never been that, after forking it underwent months of our own development before the first launch, and that process has continued since).
