Seth Miller You are not alone in this opinion. As a plugin (usually offering Drop-Ins for existing plugins) and theme author, I have no reason for the WP Rest API to come with pre-packaged WordPress. I also run sites with event calendars, and don’t think that these event calendar plugins should be part of core. having a great WYSIWYG? That’s core functionality. You could even make an argument for Caching, but this is still much higher than the level of technical experience of the average WordPress user. I don’t agree with the push to merge this into core, at all. Seems really great though, and I hope there is some path forward. #opensource #community #driven #software
