Matt I wouldn’t call it a gridlock either, though out of context I see how statements sound different than they did in the flow of conversation. In development it’s important that we first be critical of ourselves and question assumptions we might have had in the past. I learned a ton during the meeting and thought it was a very productive conversation that I hope will continue. Although you characterize there as being sides, everyone involved wants the same thing: to have a modern and flexible API widely available to enable things built on WP far beyond what we can imagine today. I still believe that REST + React is the future of plugin interfaces as well. We’re just figuring out the best way from A to B, and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and passion everyone is bringing to the table on the subject. Also if you feel strongly about this, the plugin could always use more contributors and is a great way to get involved in WP development working alongside some of the sharpest minds and contributors.
