WordCamp Sunshine Coast recently took place and while there, Troy Dean recorded a video where he interviews a few different attendees about their experience. We find out why they attend WordCamps, if it’s their first one, and reasons why others should attend. The video is just over three minutes long and well produced.

Tips on Crisis Management

Somewhat in response to our post on Headway Themes, Marc Benzakein of ServerPress, published his experience in managing crises. While there is a lot of great material in the post, there is one thing he says that I wholeheartedly agree with.

The WordPress Community is fantastic and forgiving when it comes to bumps in the road. It is mostly built up of small businesses and entrepreneurs (all of whom, it turns out, are human). They understand that ‘things happen’. They just need to know what’s going on.

Throughout my career of writing about WordPress, I’ve found the above to be true more often than not.

NASA Glenn Research Center on the Benefits of Using WordPress

The NASA Glenn Research center published the various benefits they’ve encountered using WordPress to power its site. Among the benefits listed include, only basic HTML experience required, no additional software necessary, and built-in section 508 compliance. It’s pretty cool to see how beneficial WordPress is to an organization like NASA.

Searches for WordPress in Decline?

A user on Quora recently asked what is behind the decline in people searching for WordPress. Mario Peshev of DevriX, gives a great answer. Fewer people may be searching for WordPress but that’s because they’re being more specific. For instance, searching for WordPress Developers, WordPress Themes, or WordPress Experts.

Wapoolaba!

I usually end each issue by featuring a Wapuu design. For those who don’t know, Wapuu is the unofficial mascot of the WordPress project. This week’s Wapuu design is Wapoolaba which represents WordCamp Sunshine Coast 2016. This Wapuu loves to surf!
