A Week of REST Developer Workshop to be Held in Matlock, Derbyshire in September


Matlock, Derbyshire, formerly known as a picturesque spa resort town, will be host to the next WordPress REST API conference organized by Human Made the week of September 5-9. A Week of REST is designed to be an immersive bootcamp experience for developers who want to learn how to build websites and applications using the WordPress REST API and JavaScript.

Human Made is partnering with WordPress educator Zac Gordon, creator of the JavaScript for WordPress Master Course, to prepare attendees for creating their own applications. Workshop topics include:

  • Best practices for planning API driven applications
  • How to work with core endpoints
  • How to create new and customise existing endpoints
  • Methods for authentication, including OAuth
  • How to build a decoupled applications with React and the REST API

Human Made has reserved a group of cottages situated on Darwin Lake where attendees will knuckle down for the week with help from leaders and contributors on the WordPress REST API project. The cost of the conference is £1500 + VAT, which includes all meals, accommodation, training, and transfer from the train station. There are also a few scholarships available for qualifying attendees. The conference has a limited number of spots (42) and those interested to attend can now sign up via email.
