This Week On WPWeekly: Matt Mullenweg

WordPress Weekly returns this Friday with special guest Matt Mullenweg. The last time Matt appeared on WordPress Weekly was July 16th, 2010. Needless to say, we’ll have a lot of catching up to do. Among some of the topics I plan on discussing with Matt are:

  • The plugins as features development model
  • WordPress being used for blogging, an app platform, and a CMS at the same time
  • His involvement with WordPress 3.8
  • The future of WordPress and seeing it power 30% of the web
  • His thoughts on Scott Berkun’s book, The Year Without Pants

Join us on Friday, December 6th at 3PM Eastern to hear our interview with Matt Mullenweg live. If you have any questions you’d like us to ask Matt, post them in the comments.

Speaking of Matt, SOMA magazine recently published a great piece on Matt Mullenweg. It’s one of the best stories I’ve read about Matt in a long time. It’s also the most elegant explanation of “Hello World!” I’ve ever seen.

  1. A question for Matt:

( Apologies if this is a bit dark. )

WordPress.org, and the WP community as a whole, is more than just a cool open source project- lots of hard work has built an economy that thousands of developers depend on for their livelihood.

How tied in is the success, and future, of WordPress.org to you as an individual (Matt) and how can you reassure those of us that depend on WP.org to support our families, that if something were to happen to you (sorry) that WP.org would keep going strong?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Matt, thank you for all that you do!

Ever since the multisite feature became a big part of WP, I can’t help but wonder if sub-sites (sub-domain or folder) will have this capability, too.

In other words, multisite within a multisite. Will this be a possibility in the near future?

    Again, many thanks!
    Suzanne

  3. Questions for Matt:

Any reason Akismet isn’t rolled into the Core and made standard for all?

Will WordPress.com ever offer options like Google Analytics andMeta Data Description tags? A few simple options like that would make wp.com a genuine solution for small business websites that need that info.

When you’re logged into WordPress.com, wordpress.com home page kinda sucks. Is Matt happy with the current wp ios apps and his plans for the guy that wrote the most excellent Poster?

Finally, would Matt like to speak at WordPress Dubbo when I get it organised?

    Cheers.

    Michael
